INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2024

International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21 to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual benefits that Yoga brings to the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2024, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights how yoga not only enhances personal health, but also contributes to social well-being. It underscores the interconnectedness of individual and collective health, promoting yoga as a tool for personal growth and societal betterment.

On June 21, 2024, Amrita Vidyalayam, Nallampalayam, celebrated International Yoga Day on the school premises. The program was graced by Brahmachari Nikileshamrita Chaitanya, a revered disciple of Amma, Brahmachari Nandanji, and Smt. Jayajyoti, the Principal.

The event commenced with the blessings of beloved Amma, marked by the lighting of the lamp and a prayer. Dhanushini of Grade 11 welcomed the gathering, and Smt. Jayajyoti introduced the Chief Guest, Brahmachari Nikileshamrita Chaitanya. Swamiji’s teachings and guidance have illuminated the lives of countless individuals around the world. His long and distinguished association with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore is a testament to his unwavering commitment to education, spirituality, and the holistic development of students. Brahmachari Nandanji felicitated the Chief Guest, and Dharani of Grade 11 delivered a speech about the benefits of yoga.

A brief introduction on the history of yoga was shared, followed by students performing 17 asanas, including Surya Namaskaras (comprising a series of 12 cyclic postures), Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Ardhachakrasana, Vajrasana, Uttanasana, Balasana, Chakravakasana, and Adho Mukha Svanasana. The benefits of these asanas were explained to the students simultaneously.

Yoga is like music; the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create a symphony of life.” On this occasion, the Amritians of Nallampalayam enthralled the audience with a wonderful yoga dance, enhancing synchronization, better communication, good relationships, and happiness through the symphony of music. Students participated with great enthusiasm.
